Thankful for Literature

I have had the book "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers on my mind lately. If you are reading this and realize that you have not read this book, I would highly recommend it.

This story is a picture of the love Christ has for us. This story is a picture of the life Christ desires for us to have in Him. This story is a picture of how He is constantly pursuing us, even when we turn our backs and look the other way.

I have read this story 7 times, and it never grows old. Every time I read it, God's love is revealed to me all over again, and His promises become real to me as if it were the first time I have heard them. Every time I read this story, I feel renewed, refreshed, and completely redeemed.

Here are a few quotes from the story that I absolutely love:

"...for some of us, one mile can be more to walk than thirty."

"I want you to love me. I want you to trust me enough to let me love you, and I want you to stay here with me so we can build a life together. That's what I want"

"Mara, that's the life I want to give you. That's what I'm offering you. I want to fill you life with color and warmth. I want to fill it with light. Give me a chance"

All of these are things that Michael Hosea says to Sarah (or Mara) throughout this novel.

He constantly pursues her, in the most Godly of ways. He demonstrates the love that Christ has for us, His children. Just reading these quotes give me hope and make me happy.

I am so thankful for God's word, and for God's word displayed in literature. I encourage you to read this novel and again, feel redeemed.
