Tonight at Vertical, we talked about lots of things that got me thinking but the main one comes from this verse:
"For on account of him, many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in Him." John 12: 11
Right before this, Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead. Lazarus had gone through one of the largest "fires" he could possibly go through, but because of his faith in Christ through that storm, others were able to see Christ.
This made me think about the "Fires" that I am currently going through or those that I have already gone through. How many times have the things I have experienced worked to bless others or bring glory to God?
The speaker tonight brought up this point as well: when we are facing a trial or tribulation, we are so focused on the problem and ourselves, we cannot see Christ and his glory in all of it.
So, I have come to the conclusion that:
I will gladly accept these days of pain, frustration, and stress as they are molding me and shaping me into the woman God desires for me to be. Although they won't always be happy days, they are bringing glory to God in that I am overcoming them and being a witness to Him in the way I react.
Although the news about my eyes have really brought me down, I will continue to smile and let God shine through me. My life will be spent glorifying the great I Am and if my accepting the gift of his love through trials brings that glory, then bring on the fire!
My favorite verse is 2nd Corinthians 12:10 and I think it kind of applies to what you're talking about - check it out :)
