Partly Cloudy

Before reading this post: click here and watch this video. The post will not make sense unless you do!
And, ignore the writing on the video. It's the best copy I could find =)

This is probably one of my all time favorite "shorts" . I love it. I love the way it makes you think, or at least the way it made me think.

Let me explain why this video means so much to me:

This video to me describes us perfectly. So many times, we, like the bird, feel we are being handed stuff that we are just not equipped to handle. Time and time again, we are faced with pain, destruction, disappointment, sadness, stress, and just overwhelming issues that we cannot see how we are going to handle them.

But, then there's that point where we have the chance to decide. The part where the bird leaves the cloud (even for that brief moment) reminds me of that song by David Crowder : "He is jealous for me, Loves like a hurricane I am a tree, bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy..."
This perfectly shows how it takes less than a second for our Father to desire our relationship with Him. He is jealous for us.

Anyways, back to the bird. The bird does something incredible in this video. He goes and equips himself. He prepares himself in the best way he knows how. And he returns for his mission.

How much like us is that?? I mean daily we are faced with challenges and we have to learn how to equip ourselves for those. And what better way to equip ourselves than to be patient in those trials, constant in our prayer, and preparing ourselves spiritually for life's daily struggles?

This video is just a personal reminder for me. How great can life be when we do come to the Father willing to serve and willing to accept the challenges life hands us? He never gives us things we can handle, we just have to be equipped. Life is going to be hard. We will be dealt things we don't understand and that we find hard to handle, just like the bird and the animals he was handed. But like the bird, that shouldn't stop us from going to the Father and serving Him in great ways.

I hope that this silly little video has brought some encouragement to you. You have every capability to handle what is thrown your way. Be prepared, be willing, be equipped. That is our calling.

  1. I really enjoyed this one, Hannah!! Very profound. I saw a quote the other day. "You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice."
